Penguin / Final Spread

The cover

The front cover is simple and clean, this correlates with the genre and target audience of the book. It provides a striking aspect which would engage an audience who was to see the design on a shelf. As the design is very simple and not chaotic, the used brush strokes of the title make it more appealing and noticeable from the distance. Keeping the color palette to three colours also maintains an uncluttered and overbearing composition. The barbed wires symbolises restrictions, enslavement, lack of freedom and individual worship relating to the background story of the book which is Stalinism and at the same time a loud waring regarding totalitarianism.

The back

The back contains the same illustration of the barbed wires. The colours are the same to keep it clean and simple, it provides that the blurb can easily be read on, also allowing the details of the Penguin template to stand out, whilst remaining consistent to the rest of the composition.

The spine

The spine is kept simple, as to not distract from the focal points of the cover keeping it in black and white using a sans serif font for consistency. Also, the Penguin logo is included.
