Studio Brief 02 - Fur for animals - Research on inspiration video

Research on inspiration video done by Katie

In the 'Fur for Animals' brief, it mentions that one of the deliverables of work they would like to see, has to be in a social interface interactive context. The group came together had a meeting to discuss about what kind of social media interaction context we could produce. We decide to create a Facebook, Instagram page which Bobonut is taking that lead of work. And the final interactive media that we finally decided on was Katie's idea of creating 30 seconds advertisement of 'Fur for Animals'.

During the process of making this advert, Katie did some research existing animal rights adverts for inspiration. These are:

Anti-Fur Advertisements

David Bailey's 'Dumb Animals' Anti-Fur TV Commercial for Greenpeace

The above advertisements are very graphical and serious commercials that presents animal cruelty in a very savage and violence way. Because of this type of advert is trying to make the audience feel sicking and guilty due to the amount of graphic gore that animals get torture for their fur.

For our idea for a 'Fur for Animals' advertisement, we're trying to approach the target audience in a different way. This approach is using more of an emotional aspect of animal cruelty. This is because, most of the current graphical adverts that demonstrates animal cruelty most of the audience really dismisses it and doesn't feel any sort of guilt. This is why we are going for this more build able and relating approach instead. By doing this the audience may have a better connecting and understanding with the animal cruelty situation.

To create a more emotional type of advertisement without the use graphical context and violence. Katie did more research on a more light hearted and building up type of adverts, as our aim is to create an advert that depicts a more artistic yet story based advert.

There are some emotional/artistic inspiration videos:

F(x) The 2nd Album 'Pink Tape'_Art Film

Hortex: Pyszna premiera Soków Tłoczonych!

Marc Jacobs' first TV ad for Daisy fragrance

With the following adverts above, this is the type of advertisement approach we want to make for our own version for 'Fur for Animals' campaign. We wanted to create our advert by using emotional aspect that the audience can relate to. By using this type of natural, pastel, flower colours from the adverts can create an emotional effect.

In addition, the group though we could shot these kinds of scene like the adverts in a park. However, this would not be the best idea due to the pet rabbit could easily run away and try to escape in open land. Therefore we all agreed that it was best not to shot the video in a outside environment.

Therefore, with an idea that Katie though of was to shoot the video inside the studio. But using a projector to create the background images of the outside world. This will enable to have the environment in a safe area for the rabbit. This is similar to the f(x) teaser video of them using an artistic film of projecting land. Thus it makes the advert more interesting and captivating to the target audiences eye.

Before we work out the effects and editing process of the advert video. We decide to create a story board on how we will shoot in camera angles, transition to different scenes, how the model and rabbit can be coordinate the actions we wish to achieve.
